David Eby is the MLA for Vancouver-Point Grey, first elected in 2013.
A proud local resident, David was appointed in July 2017 to his current role as Attorney General by Premier John Horgan.
Before he was elected, David was the Executive Director of the BC Civil Liberties Association, an adjunct professor of law at the University of British Columbia, president of the HIV/AIDS Legal Network, and served on the Vancouver Foundation's Health and Social Development Committee.
An award-winning human rights lawyer, he has been repeatedly recognized in local media as one of British Columbia's most effective advocates and has appeared at all levels of court in BC.
His years of legal advocacy at Pivot Legal Society to protect the human rights and dignity of homeless and under-housed residents of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside were recognized in 2011 by the UN Association in Canada and the B.C. Human Rights Coalition with their annual award.

He gained his notary public commission in 1990 and started mentoring his daughter, Marnie Gunther, in 2010. As the founder of Engman & Gunther, he built a loyal clientele who viewed him as their New West Notary Public. Clients gladly produced repeat business and a steady flow of referrals.
Prior to running his Notary Public firm, he gained professional experience working at an accounting firm. He then owned and operated an insurance company.
The New Westminster community is close to his heart. He grew up in the area and graduated from NWSS in 1963. He happily retired in 2020 once his daughter was ready to take the reins of Engman & Gunther. Congratulations on your retirement Howard!

Eight years into her teaching career, she completed my first master’s degree, specializing in Administration and Curriculum. Franca has worked in several high schools in the district, been a member of the Kamloops Thompson Teacher’s Executive, led over 15 trips to Europe with her students, been a staff representative, and been chosen to represent her district at Harvard University.
In December 2018, Franca graduated with her second master’s degree in Applied Law and was commissioned in June 2019 as a notary public. She is a busy working mom of two incredible daughters, so certainly understands the need to strive for work/life balance. She loves working with people. The work of a notary is both challenging and rewarding and Franca loves what she does!
