Brent obtained a Diploma in Survey and Mapping from BCIT and, after a period of articles, passed the necessary professional examinations and became a BC land surveyor in 1984. In 1995 Brent expended his professional designations and qualified as a Canada Lands surveyor. Over the last 37 years he has provided professional land surveying services to a wide variety of clients in British Columbia. Most of his work has included traditional land surveying services for residential, commercial and development projects on Vancouver Island. Brent has also served as an advisor to the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC through the development and implementation of projects such as electronic filing of survey plans and ParcelMap BC. At times, he is engaged by clients to provide expert reports in matters of litigation. He served a term on the Board of Management of the Association of BC land surveyors and was president in 2000. Brent enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences with other professionals and has played a key role in developing various Continuing Professional Development events for the ABCLS including a workshop series called Getting it Right BC.
